Latest view from Ruislip Against HS2

The dust of last week has just about settled and we have had a few days to take in the implications of the Government’s HS2 announcement.
Whilst we are not surprised by the decision to go ahead with HS2, we are obviously very disappointed that the results of the public consultation (91% of the 55,000 responses were against the project.) and the recommendations of The Transport Select Committee have been ignored.
However the Government have obviously found it difficult to ignore the loud voices of Ruislip. There is now to be a 2.75 mile tunnel underneath a large swathe of our community that could otherwise have been destroyed.
Ruislip Against HS2 are very proud that over a years worth of very hard work, has at the very least, saved homes and businesses from demolition and protected part of our community from disruption and chaos.
BUT this is a bitter sweet victory, a tunnel here has serious implications for our close neighbours in Northolt and Perivale and also has done nothing to help other parts of our community or indeed many others along the route.
West Ruislip and Ickenham face huge devastation as a tunnel will emerge in the midst of their community whilst Harefield have no improvement to the plans and H.O.A.C is also still under threat.
The South of our Hillingdon borough remains in limbo as we wait for details of the route for the ‘Heathrow Spur’ that has been proposed.

A statement from Nick Hurd Here

Ruislip Against HS2 along with Hillingdon Against HS2 have always campaigned against the entire project of HS2 on a national basis and we will continue to do so.We will be working hard over the coming weeks to gain more detail of the changes proposed for Ruislip and will continue to put pressure on the Government to scrap the project completely.
We hope to be holding some advice and information events in the near future to help keep you up to date. Please look out for the next news letter or check our website  for details coming soon.

We are very grateful for all your help and support over the last year and we really thank you for your input. There is no doubt that our collective efforts have helped to change the Government’s plans. This shows that campaigning can make a big difference but there is a long way to go yet! Please do think about getting more involved if you live in one of the areas still badly affected – your local Resident Association would be glad to hear from you or email us at

                                                                    THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER

We are still over a year away from a Hybrid Bill going through Parliament so despite what the Government say, we still have plenty of opportunities to change this project or even get it scrapped all together. But we still really need your help!

PLEASE Keep Fighting – Keep Writing! This really does work and we need to start a new onslaught of letters. We must let our MPs know how appalled we are at the Government’s decision to continue with this ridiculous project.

You can of course write your own letters or edit the suggested ones on line but this website is the quickest and easiest way to get a message to your MP.Even if you have written before please write again. You can also use it to write to Justine Greening.
