Residents who have written to HS2 Ltd. or submitted a question in writing at the roadshow have received a letter this week telling them whether they are living within a buffer zone!! Numerous HS2 officials at a roadshow I visited this week, in Northamptonshire, to ask about the buffer zone, had no idea what it was, which was not particularly reassuring. Eventually one did and said it is whether your house is at risk or not. If it’s within 15m of the line (the actual house) then it’s at risk. If it’s within 15-40m of the line it may be at risk and you are at risk of landtake. Well I think we had all guessed that.
Shame they didn’t have the courtesy to write before and it is also very annoying to think that people in exactly the same situation, just next door to each other won’t have had the same letter unless they asked the “right” question. These letters have taken 2 months since the roadshow, rather than the 20 days they promised.

The letters also refer briefly to construction. To get any idea of the magnitude of construction have a look at the pictures on this website. They show the construction of HS1.
